Bio

Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Sharp-Lee Mthimkulu aka Leetchisan is a multi-disciplined artist and creative.

Leetchisan, a made-up alias that means “respect the power within,” addresses intimate and personal matters relating to the relationship with self, amongst them being introspection, self-discovery, and self-worth. He believes in delving within himself and acknowledging guidance from the spirit world in order to understand and live out his higher purpose in life.

Taking into consideration his experiences of being a black, foreign male navigating his way around the city, social identity is also one of the undeniable elements that inform his work.

Since graduating from the University of Johannesburg under the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA) in 2013, Leetchisan has evolved as an artist, recently incorporating sculpting to his practice.
